Our mission is to make music and the arts relevant to contemporary kids and adults using innovative teaching methods.

Founded by professional teaching artist Elisa Winter, Play Music NYC is an exciting option for creative children and adults looking for a personalized, modern approach to music and lessons. Play Music NYC, LLC is committed to connecting amazing teachers with enthusiastic students, providing exceptional music opportunities for everyone.

Play Music NYC is privileged to work with some of the best musicians/actors/teaching artists this city has to offer. In addition to having incredible experience and rapport with their students, all of our instructors continue to perform and take their art in exciting new directions, bringing an essential professional element to all classes and lessons.

Elisa Winter
Founding Director

Elisa is an actor, musician, and teacher. After receiving her BFA in theater from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, she made her Broadway debut in the 2005 revival of Sweeney Todd (starring Patti Lupone) and went on to perform in the First National Tour. She has performed at exciting venues and festivals including The Public Theatre, The McCarter Theater, NYMF, and Fringe NYC.

Her passion to share music and the arts with students started well over a decade ago. Classically trained as a pianist, cellist and vocalist, Elisa is firm in her belief that music should be fun and inspiring. She started creating an exciting, modern approach to music lessons. She began by working with programs in Chicago and then NYC, including the Chicago Park District, Gate Hill Day Camp, and Bank Street Summer Camp, where she was Co-Head of their Musical Theater program.

In 2011, Elisa co-founded Play On! Studios, where she was able to start building her incredible team and share her fresh perspective and energy with hundreds of students. In 2017 she founded Play Music NYC, LLC to take over all private music and drama lessons, group lessons, and Sing On! Children's Choir. Play On! Studios continues to offer wonderful theater classes and camps in NYC.  

Elisa is excited that, through Play Music NYC, more students will have the opportunity to experience this successful program.
